Registrations for third round of seminars now open

Center for Agri-food Entrepreneurship in Messinia (CAEM)

 

Registrations for CAEM’s third round of seminars open on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. The seminars begin on October 23, and are aimed at all those who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in the agri-food sector, as well as those who are planning to become involved in sustainable entrepreneurship by exploiting the natural resources of the local rural economy.

 

The duration of each seminar is 30 training hours (10 3-hour sessions), including theoretical lessons, practical training in laboratories, lectures by guest speakers and visits to production facilities. The seminars that will begin during the 2017 winter semester are the following:

 


  • Food standardization, processing and preservation
  • Olive processing and standardization
  • Olive oil processing and standardization
  • Use of pharmaceutical and aromatic plants
  • Cheesemaking
  • Agritourism

The seminars’ experiential educational nature aims towards the development of an entrepreneurial culture, the improvement of skills connected with production, and the emergence of business ideas via the consulting services provided by the CAEM. Upon completion of the seminars, a certificate of attendance is provided.

Center for Agri-food Entrepreneurship in Messinia (CAEM)

 

The Center for Agri-food Entrepreneurship in Messinia was founded in 2016 by the “Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos” Foundation and the American Farm School – Perrotis College. The aim of the CAEM is to promote entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector in Messinia. The services the CAEM offers to the local community are based on scientific data on the application of production processes and services, as well as on the American Farm School’s cumulative experience in the sector of Experiential Learning in Adult Education. The Center for Agri-food Entrepreneurship in Messinia also offers guidance on the founding of a new or the development of an already existing business.
