TWO-DAY SEMINAR ON THE OCCASION OF THE WORLD OLIVE DAY, ORGANIZED BY THE MUNICIPALITY OF PYLOS-NESTOR, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CAPTAIN VASSILIS AND CARMEN CONSTANTAKOPOULOS FOUNDATION, UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE INTERNATIONAL OLIVE COUNCIL

On October 12 and 13 a two-day seminar is going to take place at the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor, on the occasion of the “World Olive Day”, established by the International Olive Council. The seminar will begin on Friday afternoon in the auditorium of the REX cinema in Chora (start time: 17:30), and will be concluded on the following day, at a conference room in Navarino Dunes, Costa Navarino (start time: 9:30).

The seminar will include talks by distinguished scientists, centering on the following topics:

- Olive tourism, and the connection of olive oil to other forms of tourism.

- The promotion of extra-virgin olive oil in gastronomy, and its connection to gastronomy tourism.

- Municipal actions for the promotion of olive products.

The events are open to all those who are interested, such as olive oil producers, oil press workers, standardizers, hotel and food industry professionals, geotechnical and food science professionals, as well as persons elected in local government positions, people working in the olive oil production sector, and others who might have an interest in similar fields.

In the words of the mayor of Pylos-Nestor, Mr Kafantaris Dimitrios: “We have once again organized an important two-day seminar that aims to promote scientific discussions on the topic of olive oil, aptly deemed Messinia’s ‘green gold.’ During this meeting, it will be our honor to welcome exceptional people who have been specializing in the study of olives and olive oil for many years now. Our aim is to provide information to our citizens and to exchange views on this unique product of our land.”

The seminar is under the auspices of the International Olive Council, and is organized by the Captain Vassilis and Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pylos-Nestor, with the support of the “Sustainable City” Municipality Network, the “Select Greek Flavors” Municipality Network, and the “Nileas” Group of Integrated Management Olive Oil Producers.
