WOMEN IN GREECE: FROM THE REVOLUTION TO BEYOND 2021

The Captain Vassilis & Carmen Constantakopoulos Foundation and Women on Top are co-organizing the conference “Women in Greece: from the Revolution to beyond 2021” as part of the “1821-2021 Initiative.” The conference will take place on October 15 & 16 2021.

We invite you to attend two days of discussions, talks and workshops that will explore the course and the role of women in the social, cultural, political and economic life of the country, starting with the Revolution of 1821 and going way beyond.

The purpose of the conference is to outline and delve into the position of women in Greece in the last 200 years, the issues connected to their representation in history as well as the future of equality and inclusion in our country.

The first day of the conference, which will include speeches, interviews and panel discussions, is structured in three interrelated sections, historically and conceptually:

- Women of the Revolution
- Women pioneers 1821-2021
- The present and the future of gender equality in Greece

The second day is devoted to closed workshops on issues related to gender in all its social, economic and political dimensions, with the aim of comprehensively exploring the challenges we are currently facing and coming up with useful and applicable proposals and conclusions for achieving this key goal, not only for our country but for the whole world.

The workshops of the second day of the conference – Saturday, October 16 – will be held exclusively in person at the Benaki Museum (138 Piraeus Street) at the building on 16 Tzaferi Street, and at the B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music, and will not be broadcast online. Pre-registration is required
